Eighty Five Years Old Today

(My Birthday 'manifesto')

I am 85. Healthy and happy, alive and well. I love and am loved.  Lucky I
am and blessed beyond my wildest dreams.

Today I celebrate a special time in my life beyond anything I could have
expected. Have accepted my commitment to love all whom I come in contact with: friends, people on the street, and subway travelers, especially those who offer me their seat.

I have morphed - evolved - into a friendly old guy who enjoys chatting up
people, who feels he offers a bit of good will, when he says “Good
morning” to strangers on the street.

No longer want to change the world, be famous or rich.  Have not however relinquished my quest for a noble deed. However, I've learned how to do nothing and brag that I am very good at it. Even though it’s still not easy to tolerate the boredom of sitting on the couch staring at the wall, or laying awake in the middle of the night. But that is part of the territory.

Hey, I've lived my life.  And yet i sense that there is something more.
For I would leave nothing unlived or unsaid. I would drink deeply from the cup of my humanity,   Life is good.

Blessings and love,
Austin
