The Wedding of

MARILYN & AUSTIN

September 10, 2016

On our wedding day...

It rained all day, except for a five hour window of sunshine –

timed perfectly to allow for a backyard wedding.

Who says there isn't a God?! And good friends.

This beautiful backyard and garden overlooking the Humber River was offered to us. What an overwhelmingly special gift from our friends, Gina and Michael O'Gorman.

And a special thank you to Gina for managing everything on our wedding day, making it such a special event.

The Ceremony

Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.

The Vows

Marilyn:
I, Marilyn, choose you, Austin, to be my husband. I vow to withhold my criticisms, to laugh with you more, to hold what is dear in you in my heart. I vow to cherish you, to love you as deeply as I'm able to from this day forth. I vow to leave nothing between us unsaid or undone, and to be more open to your deep and loving heart.

Austin:

I, Austin, choose you, Marilyn, to be my wife. I promise to appreciate more your love of beauty and your generosity. And I vow to celebrate the profound creativity with which you live your life. I vow to support you, to be your best fan in all that you do, and to be open to the deep mystery that is you. I vow to love and cherish you all the days of my life.

But they kissed lavish kisses

like the ocean in early morning
the way it gathers and swells, sucking each rock under, swallowing it again and again.

The Kiss

Celebrating love, as we have today, can give us powerful spiritual hope:
So that we can all hope again to live a life of love…
So that we can all hope again to help in the transformation of the world by love, layer by layer and connection by connection…
Away from habits that come from fear or indifference…
Into personal and global habits that grow from love.

The Toasts

Richard Weisman,

Master of Ceremonies

They are a couple with many common interests.  They are adventuresome and have travelled the world...

For me, their care and compassion was evident as they both flew out to be with me when I was diagnosed with cancer.  In fact, all my sisters came to help.

May this be a union of continued blending of heart, spirit and purpose.

- from a toast by Patricia Howland (Marilyn's sister)

Jeni DeCarlo and Jerry Hodge

Marilyn, you are a woman of deep passion, a lover of poetry, animals, gardens, children.  A women whose intellect and will that has created a life for both us beyond anything I could have hoped for or imagined.
More than that you have a beauty that is obvious, and a deep radiance that is best seen by moonlight. Your smile, your laugh, your willingness to travel, to adventure, and most of all your
unexplainable love for this lucky man. And so much more that I dare not speak aloud.
Friends, please raise your glasses and toast with me, my bride, my wife, my love.

- Austin's toast to Marilyn
